how to refer
01
FOR DOCTORS AND SPECIALISTS
We look forward to working with you to support your patient.
Our preferred communication channel for referrals is Medical Objects.
You can refer to a specific clinician or direct your general referral to “Full Life Psychology” via our director (Provider Number 4795766F) who will distribute it to the best-suited clinician. You can also contact us via email at admin@fulllifepsychology.com.au
REQUIRED DETAILS
Please ensure your referral specifies:
Our name “Full Life Psychology”
A statement that a Mental Health Care Plan is in place (if applicable)
The number of sessions you are issuing for that referral, following Medicare’s 6 + 4 (Better Access Scheme).
For assistance, please call our reception team on (07) 5354 6112.
Please note. We are a private billing clinic. To avoid confusion, please let your patients know that a Mental Health Care entitles them to a set number of rebates for sessions, not “free sessions”, and there is an out-of-pocket gap payment.

Referrals are not essential. However, most people like to see their doctor before their first appointment in order to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). With a MHCP, Medicare provides a rebate of around 50% for the total cost of a session, minimising out–of–pocket expenses. Medicare provides up to 10 rebates per calendar year.
-
A standard session is 50 minutes.
-
Treatment length varies from person-to-person, depending on the complexity of the issue, how long it has been there, and your treatment goals. 10 sessions is an average length of time for less complex issues.

Absolutely. What is said in the room, stays in the room. No information is released without your consent, unless there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others (we want to make sure everyone is safe and sound!), a court issues a subpoena (formal information request), or if we are legally obligated to report certain information.
-
Our friendly reception team will send you our intake forms electronically for completion prior to your appointment.
On the day of your appointment we recommend arriving 15 minutes early to familiarise yourself with the location and secure yourself a carpark. Our reception team will welcome you to the clinic upon your arrival and you will be able to rest and wait for your psychologist in our waiting room.
Your psychologist will greet you and direct you to one of our comfortable, private consultation rooms. The initial consult is a chance for your psychologist to get to know you and to understand what has prompted you to come in today. They will ask some questions to help them better understand what you are going through and what you hope to achieve throughout the sessions. Together you will formulate a direction for treatment and secure further sessions at intervals which will best help you. Ask any questions you like from your psychologist during that session.
-
Nope! Just come as you are.
-
If you wish to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please give two-business days notice. Late cancellations will incur a charge.
-
Yes! Video consultations (Telehealth) are available and mean that you can access your appointment from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Medicare rebates are available for Telehealth consultations if you have a current Mental Health Care Plan from your doctor.
